Tools
The bigger pieces — the ones that model a whole portfolio or a whole retirement, rather than answering a single question. Each runs entirely in your browser on figures you supply.
What counts as a tool here
The split is about how much of your situation the page has to hold. A calculator answers one question from a handful of inputs and gives you a number you can act on. A tool models something that only makes sense as a whole — a portfolio of real funds across real dates, or a retirement drawn down bucket by bucket for thirty years — and the answer is a shape rather than a figure.
There are 2 of them so far. Benchmark Comparison builds portfolios from real mutual funds, rebalances them on a schedule you choose, and backtests the result against NIFTY total-return indices over whatever window the funds have existed for — rolling returns, volatility, the worst drawdown and the year-by-year table underneath, so “it beat the index” has to hold over every window rather than the flattering one. Bucket Strategy takes a retirement corpus, splits it into safety, stability and growth, and runs the refills month by month, so you can see the quarter a bad decade would have forced a sale in rather than an average that hides it.
How they run, and what they need from you
Both run entirely in your browser. Fund NAVs and index levels are fetched from public APIs and cached locally; nothing you type is sent anywhere or stored on a server, and it all leaves when you close the tab. What they do need is a real choice — which funds, which window, which benchmark — because the whole point of replaying history is that the answer depends on the dates you lived through rather than on an average anyone can quote.
Neither is advice, and neither ranks a fund. A backtest describes what already happened to a particular set of funds over a particular window; it is evidence about the past, not a forecast, and a window chosen after the fact can be made to say almost anything. If your question is smaller than these — what a SIP comes to, what tax a withdrawal costs — the 9 calculators answer it faster.
